Thailand Protest Headline of the Day

>> Saturday, April 11, 2009

The Nation rarely disappoints in delivering over-the-top, often incoherent headlines but the one I saw today about the storming of the Asean/East Asia summit in Pattaya by protesters is a gem:

PM flies helicopter to NBT

(NBT is a TV station)

Prime Minister Abhisit, doing his own evacuation. What a talented, take-charge man!

Runner-up is the headline on a special landing page that appears when entering The Nation's main site:

The Day Everyone is Loser

Looks like the sub-editors took the weekend off. Bring back the subs, Nation!

From looking at the photos of the protests, I'm amazed there wasn't anyone killed. It must be considered quite a victory for the red shirts...

About Phuket

It's pronounced "pooh-ket", not "fuckit".
Its population is roughly 30% Chinese-Thai, 30% Malay Muslim Thai, 30% Buddhist Thai and an assortment of nutjobs and wackos such as myself.
It's a great place to come for holiday, but I'd rather you not because there's enough traffic here already, thank you very much.
It's a long way from Canada.
