Momma Zen Asks...

How do you mother yourself?

My first thought on reading this was, Oh no! Not only do I have to look after the needs of my two young children, but now I've also got to take care of this belligerent, lazy, pain-in-the neck, cranky person who refuses to go to sleep at bedtime!

But I get what she means, and she makes a very good point when she says:

...how we mother our children can never be anything other than how we mother ourselves, because it is all one life.

Momma Zen is my go-to site for wise words and a sprinkle of humour, especially on days when I've got the mad-mama blues.

By leaving a comment on her post you get the chance to win her book: Momma Zen: Walking the Crooked Path of Motherhood.

If you don't win the book, go and buy it. Her sage advice and brutal honesty have earned this book a permanent place on my nightstand for handy access.

For the series of questions she asks in the article, I answered "no" to far too many.

Time to get out and get silly!

But first, time for bed.

I can barely mother my houseplants much less myself...

About Phuket

It's pronounced "pooh-ket", not "fuckit".
Its population is roughly 30% Chinese-Thai, 30% Malay Muslim Thai, 30% Buddhist Thai and an assortment of nutjobs and wackos such as myself.
It's a great place to come for holiday, but I'd rather you not because there's enough traffic here already, thank you very much.
It's a long way from Canada.
