Ahhh Phuket!

Despite my best efforts to educate the world about the right way to say "Phuket" (see bottom left of this blog, "About Phuket"), our fair isle has topped the list of World's 10 Most Mispronounced Places.

I find comfort in the thought that at least I don't live on Phi Phi Island.

Any way you say it, right or wrong, it's a pretty silly sounding name!

I knew a guy who lived in Phuket and called it Fooket. He LIVED there! I was happy when he moved to Bangkok.

About Phuket

It's pronounced "pooh-ket", not "fuckit".
Its population is roughly 30% Chinese-Thai, 30% Malay Muslim Thai, 30% Buddhist Thai and an assortment of nutjobs and wackos such as myself.
It's a great place to come for holiday, but I'd rather you not because there's enough traffic here already, thank you very much.
It's a long way from Canada.
