New Year's with Vomit Boy

>> Wednesday, December 31, 2008

Spent my second-to-last night of 2008 in total darkness with the two kiddies, one of which had earlier thrown up in the car. He hadn't showered yet because we had no water.

The entire island of Phuket was in blackout mode for up to two hours because of some problem with a mainland connection.

Smelly, hot, dark night, with a headache from two children shining flashlights into my eyes all evening. The minutes crept by, well past bedtime for both....but too hot to send them upstairs to bed.

About as exciting as it gets!

Anyway, the kids thought it was the best thing ever.

How were your final days of the year?

We spent the last day of the year with lots of neighbors. Nice to be able to just walk home after the party.

About Phuket

It's pronounced "pooh-ket", not "fuckit".
Its population is roughly 30% Chinese-Thai, 30% Malay Muslim Thai, 30% Buddhist Thai and an assortment of nutjobs and wackos such as myself.
It's a great place to come for holiday, but I'd rather you not because there's enough traffic here already, thank you very much.
It's a long way from Canada.
